This presentation covers Moses Pierce and Esther Carpenter Pierce and their role in the underground railroad.  One track of this secret network of homes ready to help fugitives flee slavery stopped in Bedford before finding freedom in Canada. During this time Bedford residents John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the United States, and his son William supported the abolition movement and aided in the effort.
